Stitch Holders
Stitch holders are used to put aside stitches, i.e. when stitches are not needed for a longer period of time. A typical example while knitting an Icelandic Sweater is the forearm or the button facing of a cardigan. In general, Icelandic Sweaters are knitted in rounds. Even cardigans, although you can open them in the front. Therfore, you first knit the bottom cuff in rows, back and forth. If the cardigan has a knitted button facing, the stitches of the botton facing are put on a stitch holder after finishing the bottom cuff.
One package includes two of our Prym stitch holders. They are made of metal and each one is about 13.5 cm long.
For knitting a sweater or cardigan, you need, in general, four stitch holders. One for each sleeve and one for each side of the body.
